Safety

WHO and UNICEF has released expert consultation reports stating that iron fortifies foods and iron supplementation are safe and effective for risk groups including pregnant women with iron deficiency anemia in malaria endemic areas. These strategies are also found to be safe in areas where they is a high prevalence of HIV/AIDS. There several guidelines regarding packaging of iron supplements to better assure the safety of iron supplements in terms accidental poisoning of children.
