  • Helen Keller International Indonesia is conducting Supplementation with Micronutrient (SUM) in Tsunami affected areas in Aceh and North Sumatra since 2005, and expanding to Jogyakarta and Central Java when the earthquake hit in 2006. This initiative include institutional capacity building through training among district health staff, health workers, and cadres, development of training materials, distribution of 4 vitamin and minerals product (VAC, Zinc for diarrhea, Sprinkles, and Iron fortified soy sauce, and monitoring and evaluation.

  • From 2006-2008, GOI with funding aid from Japanese Grant and ADB will develop local sprinkles with multiple micronutrients, piloting vitamin A fortification in cooking oil, and strengthening the QC capability for fortified wheat flour.
