- The application of iron fortified soy sauce for controlling iron deficient anemia in China is a nationwide program supported by GAIN and Chinese government. In the last 3 years, the program activities include health education, social marketing, coverage and biological monitoring, and quality control. Experience showed that industry participation is critical while government support and health care system as the main working force are also key to the success. Significant reduction of anemia prevalence was seen in the project areas.
